My Kind of Town-Chicago

My mom, sister and I have been taking annual trips just the 3 of us for years now. We love it and always have such a good time. We try to go some place different each time. This past year we went to Chicago for our trip and my sister's 40th birthday!!! It was just perfect! Our hotel was so nice and in the best location. The shopping and sight seeing was awesome. We just had a ball and definitely want to go back. Especially since it's a direct 1 1/2 flight from Little Rock! The weather was perfect except for one day we had true Chicago weather, which we were glad to get to experience, but just for one day. The shopping was so good and different than our usual. So many stores we don't have. I was amazed at how they all were at least 3 floors and they were all busy. (FYI-Macy's, of course my favorite, was 8 floors!) There were several cashiers on each floor and you still waited in line to check out everytime like it was Christmas. It was October. The food was fabulous too!! We walked a lot and saw more homeless people begging for money then I have probably seen my whole life and it breaks my heart. Except when their fingers had gold rings on them or they were smoking. We had a terrific boat tour and a lovely carriage ride. Memories of a lifetime!!!

My mom lived in Chicago from 2nd grade through 9th grade. We went to see where she lived, played, and went to school. Definitely the highlight of the trip. She was born in California, moved to Booneville, moved to Chicago, and moved back in 10th grade and has lived there ever since. I'm so glad we were able to see part of her childhood through her eyes!! It is a trip we will all never forget. Thank you mom so so much!! I love you so much!! I really don't know what I would do without you!! You are my best friend, my mom, my support, my counselor...my everything!! I hope I'm half the mother and grandmother to my kids and grandkids that you are to me and mine!!!
