This is huge news!!!!!! Jack no longer has his passy and hasn't since December 11th!!! He only had it during naps and bedtime, but occasionally I HAD to give it to him in public or he would sometimes sneak and get it out of the basket on his changing table.
(sidenote:he is still on the changing table, but I think has outgrown it. He doesn't seem to mind and it's easier until he's potty trained, which he has NO interest in.)
So, I had been talking to him for months about not having it anymore and my goal was to get rid of it by the end of the year and we were getting close. The night I went to Harrison for the engagement party my mom kept the kids and I can't remember if he was stopped up and having trouble breathing or she couldn't find it or both, but he didn't have it that night, which was a first!! So, I had to keep it going and we hid it and told him we had to throw it away because it was broken and he didn't need it anyway. He had chewed it almost in half so he would say it's broken. This is the same passy since birth by the way so it was little. He did AMAZING with this transition!!! He never cried and still slept great and went to sleep with ease. I thought this was going to be such a battle. He's asked for it 3 times total since then and it's been at random times almost like he's just saying it. "Where's my passy?" very matter of factly too.
Way to go Jack!!! We are so proud of you and glad this is behind us!!!
Since I don't think I was blogging for Macy's farewell to the passy I'll tell about her's so she'll know when she reads this years from now. She had just started Mother's Day Out in October and would be 2 1/2 in December. She loved her passy too, but definitely ONLY had it when she was in her crib. We had started talking about getting rid of it and she is bad to just throw things wherever and we come home from MDO one day and she threw it and I really could not find it. She knew she threw it and we looked together and couldn't find it, so that was it. She had to go to sleep without it and did with ease and slept great and continued to do this. She would ask for it sometimes, but never cry and I would tell her remember you lost it. She understood very well from a very young age. This was in late October or early November of 2008. We moved in latev October 2009 and found it!! hahaha She saw it and said, "my passy" with excitement! They both would still take it to this day if I would let them. Funny kids!
I'm so thankful these transitions were soooo easy for them and us!! Way to be adaptable kids!
